empty playground,
empty swings,
empty lot,
empty things.


summer's out!
so school is gone.
Yet nobody
is on the lawn.


boys and girls,
once out to play,
won't be back-
another day.


old and cool,
they stay inside.
worrying, worrying,
with all their might.


long walks,
and talks,
have turned
to text.


anxious about
what's coming
next.
