The life of a cat by K.K.

It was dinner and I was not in a good mood. I was going to go over and play with my best friend Samantha, when suddenly it started to rain hard. Now I usually love it when it rains but that also meant I couldn’t go over and play with Samantha. Boo! So I wore my lucky new watch. It's sparkly purple, it isn’t one of those cool digital watches though.Anyways it must have worked because we had spaghetti for dinner and I love spaghetti! I slurped my dinner up ,I was so hungry that I got seconds. Then I went up to my room and snuggled up in my day-bed with my book, (I’m reading the baby-sitters club). I had gotten through the very first sentence when… BOOM! BOOM!BOOM! I grunt, did I mention that I have a younger sister-Kshama. KATE-KATE-KATE LET ME IN!!!!!!!!!I grunt again!”No way”I yell! Then…silence?I shrug my shoulders.Whatever.Two minutes later,I’m back in my day-bed. Next door I hear “I don’t wanna sleep!”.I giggle,I close my book, hop into bed, and close my eyes.

CRACK!I wake up. It's pouring out. I realize I’m still wearing my watch.I try to see in the dark, but end up pressing the side button of the watch (I didn’t even know it was there)suddenly a flash of blinding light shoots from my directly watch onto my face. “AAAHH!!!”I scream, but it comes out as MEOW!”What?”I say out-loud.Again-meow? I bury my face in my hands.MEOW!OMG!I Have paws! I look down at my body and realize that I've been turned into a cat. Now I love cats but I do not want to be one! I hop out of bed -oh no-I’m falling! Good thing cats have 9 lives. I look down at my watch, which still somehow fits me,it’s softly glowing. I realize that it must be some type of magic! I must turn back into a human before my family wakes up. I decide to check the watch manual since it is new. After a while of climbing up the mountain day-bed, I finally reach the top shelf (why did I put it there?). Luckily my paws were very grippy,I hooked my paws onto the top shelf and with all the strength I could muster,I hoist myself onto the shelf,my tail swishing from side to side. I open the manual, the instructions were at the very bottom of the page, in the littlest letters possible,so that only if you were looking for it then you would find it. I squint “the only way to undo the spell is to take the watch off and leave it in the sun for two hours"easy,I think! But sadly there was more."It must start sitting at the first ray of sunrise. I definitely do not want to be stuck being a cat so I must hurry. So sadly , I climb down from the shelf. Since I want to save time I just hop right off, luckily a pillow on the floor cushions my fall. I leap across the room, and slowly climb up the wall, clinging on to the window-sill for dear life. I take a deep breath. I go very, very slowly (but at the same time I try to be fast so that I don’t miss the first ray of sunrise),and try to take my watch off. I fiddle with the strap. After a while it comes undone! So I set it down on the window sill so that the watch can catch the sun.

Finally, two full hours later, I’m still a cat,I go over to the window sill where the watch is sitting. I slowly, very slowly put the watch back on,

My skin starts to tingle, then a blinding flash of blinding light shoots from my watch to my face.I cover my eyes ,I was expecting something like this to happen. I go to look in the mirror. “Yay!”I can’t help but say,"I'm me again!" I open my drapes and let the light flood in.

I yawn and open my eyes, the drapes are closed but light is shining through them,I look at my day-bed and sure enough my book is there. I was almost expecting the manual from my dream to be there, but nope it’s still atop the highest shelf. My dream seemed quite real, and I did forget to take my watch off last night. I get curious over the day, and find myself checking if my watch does have the power to turn me into a cat. Then strangely, later that day I discovered that there is cat hair all over the window sill. Could it be possible that I had turned into a cat? I decided to investigate later, and to keep it a secret for now.
